Rachel's Challenge

Want to Join the Friends of Rachel Team?

In an effort to combat bullying, low self- esteem, and every day middle school issues that arise, Summit Intermediate school has taken action. In addition to the safe School Ambassador program, Summit will continue Rachel’s Challenge for the 2018-2019 school year.

The program will consist of all students attending a Powerful assembly about a challenge issued by Rachel Scott who was the first student killed during the Columbine High School shooting on April 20, 1999 in Colorado. Through her writings and personal relationships, Rachel’s family realized what a positive impact she had on other people. Rachel’s family developed a series of student empowering programs that help equip students and adults to combat bullying and feelings of isolation.

The Program is entitled “Rachel’s Challenge”, and is presented all over the United States, leaving a strong impact on students staff, and the community. Following the assembly, last year’s “Friends of Rachel team”, (F.O.R.T.) will meet to establish goals for the team to set the stage for several activities throughout the school year.

Summit Intermediate accepts Rachel’s challenge, and invites the community to do the same!
