The Etiwanda School District provides virtual classroom lessons through the distance learning plan.  Please note that during virtual sessions there is no expectation of privacy, students and anything in their background will be in view of the class. Those who prefer not to have their image shown may elect to turn off the video camera during the virtual session.

Language Arts: 
*End of the year survey*- IF you are able, please take the survey posted on Google Classroom (you can also take it from your phone :) ) (If you already returned your chromebook, do not worry- it is not mandatory, just a way for me to get some feedback :)

Tuesday (5/19/20)

Language Arts: End of the year reflection- When you get your bag of your belongings back from the school, open your portfolio/file that I placed in your bags and find your letter than you wrote to yourself the first week of school. Reflecting on this letter and where you were at at the beginning of the school year, think and jot this down somewhere ( I would recommend on the back of this letter) to refer to next year- trust me, I think you will be glad you did this when you read it later in life :)

2. What goals (both academic and personal) did your achieve this year? How did you achieve them?
3. What piece of advice would you give and incoming 8th grader next year and why? How does your piece of advice stem from your experience?

3. Choose 2 excerpts/ characters and how their experiences shape their values.
4. Complete a chart for those 2 excerpts like the sample on page 105-106.
(We will do all of this together on our Google Meet at 10:30AM) :)

1. Create a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting the similarities and differences between your two excerpts- Who are the main characters, what takes places, what are their values, and etc.
2. Create an essay road map- sample on page 111 on a sheet of paper to help you brainstorm
3. Choose 2 pieces of evidence from both excerpts that are going to support you in your writing to answer the essential question- write these both down and SAVE!

Finish any work from the week that you have not yet finished- hold on to chapter 12-1, 12-2, and 12-3 sections reviews- you will turn in next week once we finish the rest of chapter 12


Week of 4/20/20- 4/24/20
Monday (4/20/20)-
Language Arts:
5 paragraph essay (typed and submitted Friday on Google Classroom) about the Coronavirus Pandemic (we will go over this in more depth today in our Google meet so be sure to participate!
The topics for each of the 5 paragraphs are broken down below (each day).

Today- Write paragraph 1- How did you first feel when we were let out of school for what we thought would be only 3 weeks due to the Coronavirus pandemic- 
Explain your emotions/feelings, any of your fears, and any other thoughts that were going through your head when we first heard the announcement that we would be out of school.
Do you regret any of those emotions?
Must be at least 5-7 GOOD /complete sentences :)
There was a lot of mixed emotions that day, so explain them!

Social Studies: Chapter 11 Assessment pg. 516-517 #1-13
Either type as a Google doc OR keep nice and neat so you can take a picture of your answers like last week

Tuesday (4/21/20)-
Language Arts:
Write paragraph 2- How did your feelings progress as this pandemic continues? How did you feel every time you heard that the school closure was being extended? How do you feel in regards to being limited to what we can go out and do? What does it "feel" like to be living in the midst of a pandemic? What is your family life at home like during this time and how has that progressed over time?
Must be another GOOD 5-7 sentences
This paragraph should be centered around how you are feeling right now and how any of your feelings have changed.


Social Studies: Finish Chapter 11 Assessment pg. 516-517 #14- 25

Wednesday (4/22/20)-
Language Arts: 
Write paragraph 3- What are at least 3-5 things that you have learned so far being in the midst of this pandemic? Think about your values. What have you learned about yourself or maybe even others? How are you valuing your time? How are you continually growing yourself? IF not- what have you learned that you want to change or work on?
Must be another GOOD 5-7 sentences
This paragraph should be centered around how you are feeling right now and how any of your feelings have changed.

Social Studies: 
Upload chapter 11 Assessment to Google Classroom (either by taking a picture or uploading your Google doc)

Thursday (4/23/20)-
Language Arts:
Write paragraph 4-What are some of the various "acts of kindness" you have seen during this time? If they are not necessarily acts of kindness, what are some other things that have occurred during this time that have helped bring some good news in the midst of a challenging time? If you are not sure, research some :) Do not just list them, be sure to explain how these "acts" have shed light during this time and what it also taught you..
Must be another GOOD 5-7 sentences

How would you describe what we are all going through right now, to a future generation who did not witness this. What would you say about your values? What has this taught you? Be sure to explain! 5-7 sentences and conclusion.

2. Use this time to do something that you enjoy doing! Play a game, watch a movie, call a friend, or simply relax because you completed the hard work! :)
